Getting Ready To Sell

Printable Document

Walk through your home and view it as if you were the buyer.  Look for things that need   repairing or freshening up, such as broken trim or moulding, or paint that needs touching up.  Sometimes just washing walls & trim can really improve their appearance.

Call your Concierge™ Service Representative if you are in need of a cleaning service, junk removal, handyman, painter or even an interior design consultant to help you spruce up your home to sell quickly.

Steps you can take for your house to look its best for broker previews, open houses, and buyer showings:

      Prepare each room…..

                    Pick up toys and shoes

          Keep dishes out of sight.

Kitchen Counters should be empty of all clutter and appliances.

Be sure the beds are made and all clothes put away.

           Bathroom fixtures should sparkle.

(Keep window cleaner & paper towel handy for quick cleanups).

Give the carpets a quick once-over with the vacuum.

Open the drapes and shades, and turn on the lights to make your house look

bright and cheerful.

Turn off the television.  You might want to have soft music playing in the          background.

Pick up newspapers and sweep the front walkway.

Keep pets out of the way.  Make sure all pet areas are clean and odour-free.

Secure jewellery, cash, prescription medication and other valuables.

It is usually best if you can leave while your house is being shown.  Potential buyers tend to feel more comfortable if the owners are not present.  Trust the real estate professional to show your property to its best advantage.

Please save the business cards of all the agents who show your property, and advisel your sales representative so that he or she can follow-up with them.

If people who are not accompanied by an agent ask to see your property, refer them to your sales representative for pre-screening.
